I've realized that I'm so not going to see all Rome has to offer so I have to make some priorites today... but that's not to say I didn't try to do everything!
I was up at the crack of dawn... okay... really it was more like 6:45! But I was up for the terrace breakfast which was loaded with options and just what I needed to start the day. Oh did I mention the breakfast came with a fresh espresso?! It was so tasty (Jody, I even had foam!)
I was then off to the Coloseum and I took TONS of photos! It's a very neat and beautiful place. I followed that up with the Roman Forum (LOTS more photos). It was really neat to see the ruins, things that used to be there. My guide books was very good at tell me where things where and events that happened in each location )thank gosh, because there were no signs?). Then it was of to Vittoriano which was quite beautiful close up. I got some great pictures from way up. This is also where they have a tomb of the unknown solider. Yeah... things are done a bit different over here!
I then stopped for lunch at a little cafe near my hotel. So yummy and I have to mention that mostly when you say you want water they bring you water with bubbles... it's in all the vending machines. It's awesome! This is how it should be!
I had to swing back to my hotel to pick up some sunscreen then it was off to Vatican city! Wow! Beautiful and talk about rich! The museums (had no line!!!) was well laid out and the art (modern art excluded) was beautiful. The scuptures and the Sistine Chapel were breathtaking... I could have stayed there forever!
I then got in the looooooooooonnnnnnnnnggggggggg line for St. Peter's Basilica. It was well worth the wait! The sculptures, tiles, art was amazing.... but by then I was getting tired and it was time to head home.
I grabbed some gelato and started the walk back to the metro station. I was a bit bummed that I haven't gotten any souvenirs (I seriously hate the tourist crap the sell on the streets)... that is until I say the perfect souvenir!!! That's right... a SHOE STORE! Oh yeah... I was all over that! I'm the proud owner of some super sexy Italian shoes!
Running out of Internet time! Got to go! Arrivederci!
